A man accused of murdering a Roman Catholic Church nun has been arrested, Eastern Cape police said.

The 26-year-old man was arrested in Mthatha, Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela said today.

He is expected to appear in court soon on a murder charge.

Sister Mary Paule Tacke (82) was hijacked and kidnapped in Norwood, Mthatha, on Sunday.

After the crime, people who worked with Tacke saw her car in Mthatha and followed it. The police were called and the car overturned in the ensuing chase.

“Two men escaped on foot and police found a 9mm pistol with five rounds and a cellphone that belonged to one of the men,” Fatyela said at the time.

Tacke’s body was found in a small stream in the veld in Nangeni on Monday.
