Man shot in complex

2010-07-08 07:54

A man has been shot in a Honeydew complex, northwest of Johannesburg, paramedics have reported.

ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said: “The 52-year-old father of the house said that he was woken up early this morning by a noise near the bed. As he opened his eyes, he saw four unknown males standing in his room.”

He then let out a scream which must have given the men a fright, and one of them who was holding a gun, let out a shot, after which it seems they ran away from the scene.”

Jackson said the man suffered wounds to the chest and back. He was rushed to hospital where he was in a stable condition.

His wife and two daughters were unharmed.

“The family of four is believed to have moved in to the complex in Honeydew, Roodepoort, in February,” said Jackson.

“The Honeydew SAPS were on the scene to collect evidence for investigation purposes. It also seems that the criminals managed to make off with an unknown number of valuables.”

The police said a statement would be issued later in the day.
