Nelson Mandela’s grandson, Chief Mandla Mandela, shocked a press conference in Mvezo this morning by claiming his brother, Mbuso, had impregnated his estranged wife.

At a packed press briefing at the Mvezo Great Place, Mandla hit back at his family who successfully took him to court this week to have the remains of Madiba’s three deceased children returned to Qunu.

Mandla Mandela previously said one of his three brothers was the father of a baby born to Anaïs Grimaud, his estranged wife who has since moved back to Reunion.

The baby was born in September 2011 and family pictures of Mandla, Grimaud and Madiba holding the little boy, who the elder statesman named, were distributed by the family.

This morning Mandla said: “Mbuso impregnated my wife” and then claimed that the family had never discussed the matter.

After the press briefing, Mandla said he wouldn’t be doing more interviews with the media.
