Manto death shocks Cosatu

2009-12-16 15:36

Former health minister Manto Tshabalala-Msimang made mistakes like

anybody else and she must be forgiven, Congress of SA president Sidumo Dlamini

said today.

Tshabalala-Msimang died in the Wits University Donald Gordon

Medical Centre & Medi-Clinic ICU on Wednesday morning from complications

from her first liver transplant in 2007. She was in hospital to undergo tests on

whether her body would accept a second liver transplant.

“This is shocking news,” Dlamini said when he heard about the news

of Msimang’s death.

“Somebody asked me yesterday what message we were going to send her

in hospital and I said we hoped and wished her a speedy recovery,” he

said.

“She made some mistakes by driving those policies but she was a

human being,” said Dlamini.

“Her loss is a great loss. South Africa is losing a great leader of

the ANC.”

Dlamini said people must forgive Tshabalala-Msimang’s mistakes and

allow her a peaceful life after death.

“I knew her well. I visited her in her home a few times and I found

her as a mother. That is what I experienced in her house,” he said.

“The federation will miss her deeply. We are touched by her passing

away.”
