Matric passes a commitment to a better life: YCLSA

2010-01-07 08:52

The matric results are a commitment by the country’s youth to

pursue a better life, the Young Communist League of SA said today.

“The 2009 matric results signal a qualitative commitment from the

youth of our country in pursuance of a better life for all to excel academically

in the interests of the sacrifices made by the generation of Joe Slovo for a

free and democratic South Africa,” it said, referring to the former general

secretary of the SA Communist Party.

The YCLSA planned to celebrate by participating in a further

studies and career exhibition with the University of Johannesburg and youth

organisations in Johannesburg’s Diepsloot today.

The matric pass rate dropped to 60.7 percent from 62.5 percent last

year.
