Mbeki to launch courses

2011-07-29 14:26

Former president Thabo Mbeki will launch short-term courses for students who want to become thought leaders, the Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute (TMALI) said today.

The courses would begin with an orientation week from Monday, at Senate Hall, University of South Africa, the TMALI organisation said in a statement.

Over 150 registered students would be able to interact with Mbeki during orientation week.

Several UNISA lecturers will be teaching the TMALI courses, with study units including: “Introduction to leadership for Africa’s renewal; deconstructing the vision for Africa’s renewal; and decision making and conflict management in the African context”.

“A number of Pretoria-based diplomats representing various African countries have also been invited to observe orientation week.”

Media would also be able to interview Mbeki at the launch.

“TMALI also aims to generate new knowledge about Africa and Africa within the global context, by hosting focused seminars and conferences and conducting research.

These findings would be communicated expeditiously to Africa and the rest of the world.
