Modimolle rape victim at husband’s trial

2012-02-08 07:05

Modimolle rape victim Ina Bonnette will attend the court case of her estranged husband and alleged attacker, Johan Kotze, in the town on Friday.

Kotze allegedly hired three men to rape his wife, then tortured her and murdered her son Conrad (19) on January 3.

Bonnette would be accompanied by close friends in court on Friday, Beeld reported.

“She wants to show him (Kotze) that he hasn’t broken her,” one of Bonnette’s friends Elize Coetzer told the newspaper.

Bonnette, who gave the media permission to identify her, returned to her job at an insurance firm in Modimolle two weeks ago, but was still receiving psychological counselling, Coetzer said.

Meanwhile, Modimolle residents were planning a fundraising event on March 3 to help Bonnette with the costs of her reconstructive surgery, estimated to be around R70 000.

Kotze and three co-accused would appear in the Modimolle Magistrates Court on Friday. The four face 17 charges, among them murder, attempted murder, rape and conspiracy to commit rape.
