Mohlala ‘trigger man’ arrested

2010-10-05 11:13

A man suspected of shooting dead Mbombela Municipality Speaker Jimmy Mohlala has been arrested, Mpumalanga police said.

“The man, in his 30s, was arrested in his hiding place in Matsulu on Monday at about 5pm. He is the suspected trigger puller in the murder of Mohlala.”
Captain Leonard Hlathi said.

His arrest follows that of four other people who were arrested on Saturday in connection with the murder.

They appeared in the Kabokweni Magistrates Court on Monday and were granted R10 000 bail each.

Their case was postponed to November 5.

During the arrest of the alleged gun man, police found furniture believed to have been stolen from Mohlala’s home.

Mohlala was shot dead outside his home in January last year following his exposure of irregularities in tenders issued for the construction of the R1 billion Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit for the World Cup.
