Movie review – Transformation guaranteed

2011-07-05 10:23

The Autobots are back and this time they get down and seriously dirty, leaving a long trail of scrap metal behind them.

They find out the humans know of a Cybertronian spacecraft on the dark side of the moon.

It holds a space bridge the Decepticons wish to use to bring their home to earth. But, only Optimus Prime has the key.

Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) is still in the lead, fine as ever with a supermodel girlfriend … again, named Carly (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley).

The teenager just graduated and is struggling to find a job “where he matters” like when he saved the world, twice.

The Autobots have alliances with the humans and have made a home on earth, but this time they play into the hands of the Decepticons which results in Earth’s fight for survival.

The human army is led once again by Lt Colonel William Lennox played by Josh Duhamel who now answers to a woman, Charlotte Mearing (Frances McDormand) who is large and in charge.

Jerry (Ken Jeong), the funny short Chinese man in both Hangover movies, has a tiny role but it brings some comedy to the film.

Another character that stands out is Dutch (Alan Tudyk). He is a butler/PA but when he finally lets the cat out of the bag, he’s all action and brains.

He can get out of any sticky “Mexican” situation and hack into the smallest machine.

However, this movie is too long, 2hrs 34min to be exact. Some parts drag on, which makes them flat and boring. Someone like me (an action junkie) wants less talk, more action. Some scenes are perfect only for bathroom breaks.

The action: stunts are amazing, and humanly possible. But somethings they were just beyond our imagination.

I wondered how it was possible for those humans to survive after being crushed in a hand of steal.

One thing this movie taught me is to never give up. Sam kept on going, no matter how impossible the situation looked, even when Robert Epps (Tyrese Gibson) told him “its over”.

It was my first 3D experience and it was awesome. It felt awkward at first in those nerdy glasses but I got into the groove of things and boy, did we fly.

If you love explosions, fast cars, beautiful machinery and seeing people fly off buildings and planes, then this is right up your alley.

I’m no expert but it is a great movie that will cash it in big time. This one will break the box office and be greater than the first two.

With it being the third and last of the sequel, director Michael Bay and producer Steven Spielberg ended it on a high note.
