Mulder’s comments divisive

Racial integration, social cohesion and harmony in the country can never happen automatically without all racial groups exerting effort.

White people (Afrikaners), who became the primary beneficiaries of the horrible apartheid system and instigated racial hatred, need to do more work in this regard.

Freedom Front Plus leader Pieter Mulder’s comments that black South Africans cannot lay claim to 40% of South Africa are not only unfortunate and reckless, but divisive in the midst of a volatile condition.

They do not advance any reconciliatory efforts.

He needs to be grateful for the courtesy shown by South African blacks. His behaviour will lead to a belief that Afrikaners harbour the notion that apartheid was a better system.

Being the deputy minister of agriculture, forestry and fisheries, Mulder needs to know that land is a very sensitive and emotive issue that needs to be handled with strict caution.

Pretended amnesia will not assist in resolving the impasse. Racial integration requires commitment, not pretension.
