Brussels – Nato said it was not involved in United States-led strikes on Islamic State targets in Syria.

“There is no North Atlantic Treaty Organisation involvement,” an alliance official said today.

The United States and Arab allies hit Islamic State targets including training camps, headquarters and weapon supplies in northern and eastern Syria in dozens of air and missile strikes today, the US military and a monitoring group said.

Meanwhile, Britain said today that no final decision had been made over whether to join the air strikes.

A spokesperson at the ministry of defence said discussions were still ongoing.

The office of Prime Minister David Cameron said

Britain was not currently part of the action against Islamic

State militants, who have seized large expanses of territory in Iraq and Syria.
