Former Bafana Bafana captain Neil Tovey is “doing well” after suffering three heart attacks and could be moved out of ICU in the next day or so.

EWN reported today that a family member of Tovey confirmed that the 52-year-old former Bafana Bafana captain is recovering in ICU in a Durban hospital.

The family member confirmed to EWN that Tovey suffered three heart attacks, two of which occurred after the former defender had been admitted to hospital.

According to reports yesterday, Tovey had to be repeatedly resuscitated after the attacks.

Tovey won over 50 caps for the national side and was as a star for Kaizer Chiefs from 1990-1999.

He later coached numerous PSL sides after retiring from the playing arena, including Mamelodi Sundowns, AmaZulu and Black Aces.

This news comes after reports earlier this week that John “Shoes” Moshoeu is fighting for his life in a Johannesburg hospital.
