ANN7's StarBiz is back on air tonight with a brand new host. The weekly entertainment TV show bid farewell to Mbali Mlotshwa in early December last year when she submitted her letter of resignation, in a surprise move.

The show debuted over two years ago with Mlotshwa, actress and TV personality, as its first host. ANN7 has now replaced her with MTV base VJ finalist, Tsholo Gontse Semenya.

“I’m honoured to have been considered for this opportunity,” said Semenya.

Semenya, 22, a former radio presenter at the Wits University campus radio station VoWFM will be making her first appearance tonight on DSTV channel 405.

Very little is known about the fresh-faced starlet but her talent will likely speak for itself. “I was very anxious shooting the first episode,” Semenya told City Press. “But I'm not anxious in a nervous way. I was excited for this new challenge, and to learn new things.”

The change in line-up comes at a difficult time for the fledgling station, which has been dogged by a series of high-profile departures, particularly in its news team. Towards the end of last year senior journalist Asanda Magaqa left on a sour note, and senior reporters Hajra Omarjee and Chantal Rutter Dros have also left.

Mlotshwa's departure however is more likely linked to the growing demands of her acting role in local drama series Rockville on Mzanzi Magic, which has boosted her profile.

Semenya will have big shoes to fill but is confident that she will bring new life to the show with her quirky personality. “I think people should watch the show to see my different sides and get to know me a lot better. I will be bringing all aspects of my personality into the show.”

*Catch Semenya on StarBiz every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 10:30pm as well as on Saturday and Sunday at 4:30pm. on ANN7 DSTV channel 405
