Brazil ran riot at the FNB Stadium as they outclassed Bafana 5-0 in an international friendly.

This was a serious hammering to which Bafana had no answers.

It was the fifth meeting between South Africa and Brazil and, just like the previous four encounters, it also went the South Americans' way.

Bafana were no match for the former world champions and seemed to be overawed by the big occasion of playing against a galaxy of Brazilian stars. It was one of the poorest performances by Bafana as they were totally outplayed by the 2014 Fifa World Cup hosts.

It was particularly a night to forget for young goalkeeper Ronwen Williams who was making his debut for Bafana.

The 50 000 crowd were left disappointed by Bafana’s showing although happy to have seen their Brazilian heroes on display.

The visitors forced Bafana to defend from the onset and the South Africans did not heed the warning signs.

It was always going to be a long night for Bafana and it was no surprise when the Samba Boys took the lead through Oscar in the 10th minute.

Bafana defenders were beaten by Hulk’s pass which found the Chelsea star who slotted it past Ronwen Williams.

But it was always going to be a Neymar show and the Barcelona midfielder did not disappoint on the night scoring a hat-trick to the delight of his supporters.

Buoyed by the paltry crowd whenever in possession, Neymar showed his class as he easily sliced through Bafana’s defense throughout the game. But after twice being denied by Williams he got the last laugh when he scored on either side of half time to finish the game on three goals.

But the goal of the night belonged to Fernandinho, whose thunder shot beat Williams hands down in the 79th minute.

After this performance, Gordon Igesund can have no excuses as his team had no answers for the rampant Brazilians. As always, it is back to the drawing board for Bafana.
