‘No reshuffle in Limpopo cabinet’

2010-11-08 10:45

There is no reshuffle on the cards for the Limpopo provincial cabinet, the province said today.

“Government wishes to put it on record that members of [the executive council] work collectively to discharge their responsibilities as outlined in the electoral mandate of the current administration,” a statement from the office of the premier read.

“Therefore, opinions that disapprove [of] certain members of [the executive council] and calling for the provincial cabinet reshuffle are misleading.”

City Press yesterday quoted ANC and government sources saying four provincial MECs were likely to be removed – health and social development MEC Miriam Segabutla, safety and security MEC Dikeledi Magadzi, agriculture MEC and provincial ANC treasurer Dipuo Letsatsi-Duba, and sports, arts and culture MEC Joyce Mashamba.

After President Jacob Zuma announced a national Cabinet reworking, Gauteng and Mpumalanga have changed their provincial parliaments.

According to the report the Eastern Cape and Limpopo would be next.

The Limpopo government said members of the executive council remained focused on providing government services.
