Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi will have to continue his wait to get back into the team.

This was revealed by Bucs coach Roger De Sa ahead of the Soweto derby against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.

Lekgwathi has fallen out of favour following his comments about a third force being active in the team after he was left out of the squad that lost the MTN8 final against Platinum Stars last month.

However, De Sa said there was nothing untoward about the captain’s exclusion, saying he should wait for his opportunity.

“Lekgwathi is a player like Mabena, Gabuza et cetera. He is working hard. He has to convince me he is good enough to play in the team. He has been working hard at training and must wait for his time,” said De Sa.

He said the team had been doing well without the 37-year-old defender and it was hard to tamper with the winning combination.

Lekgwathi has missed the Bucs’ previous five games. He was expected to be included in their trip to Tunisia after an injury to defender Siyabonga Sangweni, but he was left behind.

It looks like he will not be part of Saturday’s festivities at FNB either.
