Obama-bashing makes no sense

I’m not sure I fathom the mouth-foaming of the Muslim Lawyers’ Association, which wants US President Barack Obama arrested for being a “drone criminal” (“Is Obama a drone criminal?”, City Press, June 16 2013).

Actually, what I don’t understand is their myopic and selective positioning of their sense of justice.

If Obama must be held accountable for the “countless deaths of innocent men, women and children”, then who is going to hold accountable the Taliban, the Chinese, Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan and so many African warlords and Islamic militants for their part in the wanton slaughter of the innocent, destabilising entire nations?

As you read this, there are countless innocent men, women and children being killed daily in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq by suicide bombers. Are their masters held accountable?

Some African and Arab heads of states have been on the wanted list of The Hague for years, yet still serve in office with impunity.

If you want to sweep another man’s yard, first see that yours is clean, otherwise you will be seen as a vindictive hypocrite.

Please do not abuse our beloved country with your misguided ideologies.

We are here to build nations, not destroy them. We strive very hard to live by our sense of ubuntu, in honour of our great statesman, Nelson Mandela.
