Something’s Cooking

Mzansi Magic

Wednesday, 7pm

Joao da Fonseca – known to music fans as J’Something – might be known for being part of the hugely popular band MiCasa – but he has other talents too.

One of them is his flair for cooking, and Mzansi Magic is homing in on that in a new 13-episode series called Something’s Cooking.

The lead singer of the chart-topping, award-winning group will reveal how his passion for food, his family background in the restaurant world and Portuguese and African roots combine to create a delicious culinary journey.

During the series, he will explore new ingredients and cooking styles, proving you don’t have to be a professional chef to create fresh, exciting meals.

Viewers will also get an inside look at what J’Something gets up to when he’s not on stage.

“When I don’t sing, I cook,” he says. “Life is a classic recipe of hard work, good friends and a perfect grilled sarmie. Something’s Cooking is who I am – not perfect, but passionate.”

M-Net’s director for local interest channels, Nkateko Mabaso, says: “Something’s Cooking turns [foodie shows] on its head with a household name launching his own cooking show – and Mzansi Magic is thrilled to be part of that.”

Musos making food, what more could you want?
