The fourth witness in the Oscar Pistorius murder trial, Kevin Lerena, took the stand this morning to explain how Pistorius had fired a gun under a table at a trendy Joburg restaurant – and asked his friend to take the blame.

Lerena, a boxer and friend of Oscar’s, said they passed a gun around under a table at Tashas Melrose Arch. They were four friends getting together for a meal on the day.

The gun went off, grazing Lerena’s toe and leaving a hole in the floor, he testified today.

He further testified that Oscar had asked another friend, Darren Fresco, to take the blame, as Oscar knew the incident would get media attention.

Fresco has been romantically linked to Gina Meyers, Reeva Steenkamp’s friend and ex-housemate.

Fresco’s Twitter bio reads: “If it has wheels or a skirt it will cost you money.”

Advocate Barry Roux, for Pistorius, asked for an adjournment, saying Oscar’s team had not expected Lerena to testify at this stage of the trial.

Roux joked about being intimidated by the thought of questioning the boxer.

Lerena is the first witness who agreed to be filmed during court proceedings.
