PS: Zuluboy

2009-12-15 06:48

Be it in

Soul City or on stage performing one of his hits, the political and outspoken

Zuluboy continues making waves wherever he goes. Having been expelled for

wearing African attire to school, the maskandi artist continues being true to

himself and defying the laws of conformity. Here he talks about his dream car,

loving enough and lying under the stars.

Life is … hip-hop and all

challenges that train me for the future.

My first job was

as a waiter at an upmarket restaurant.

The most romantic

thing I’ve done … was a midnight picnic in a rural area lying on the ground

watching the stars.

Right now I’m

listening to … I love my Maskandi 2 Greatest Hits but Shembe of Bambatha

does it for me.

My favourite place

to play/DJ … for people who love what they do and do what they love.

My fictional hero

is … Santa Claus because he comes every year and brings families

together.

My favourite place

in SA is … the Drakensberg. It cleanses my mind.

I love my family

because … they are the centre of my life. I can always talk to them about

whatever I go through.

My dream car is

Phantom for its style and class.

The phrase I

overuse is … take care of what you love and what you love will take care of

you.

Before the end of

the day I have to … meditate and pray for tomorrow because it is not

known.

I was so

embarrassed when I … was invited to take part in a video shoot. Without

warning, the cameras stopped rolling and I was removed from the stage while

everbody watched.

Living the African

dream for me would be … when Africa has the same financial power and

knowledge as the rest of the world.

If I could change

one thing about myself it would be … I have so much love and a helpful

heart. If I could, I would love and help just enough.

When I think of

2010 I think of … nothing but a soccer tournament coming to Africa.

The best day of the

week is … Monday. It is a day when I plan for the week ahead and because my

peeps are tired we all get a break.

I knew my career

and I were meant to be when … I looked at my photo album and saw pictures of

myself performing when I was very young.

My favourite room

in the house is … the bedroom because I can get to think, rest and

ink.

My favourite

childhood memory is … chilling with my friends and walking up the stream

near Gobogobo River.

My favourite old

school track is … Mbombela by Bayethe. It is a classic.

My next project is

IGODA that I’m working on as we speak and a coffee shop in Jozi

central.
