PSL postpones weekend fixtures

2014-04-25 08:28

The PSL has decided to postpone a number of fixtures that were originally meant to be played this weekend.

According to the Soccer Laduma website, this decision was made yesterday by the PSL Exco to promote the spirit of fair play, and now as many as possible penultimate Absa Premiership fixtures will be played simultaneously on May 6 2014.

All fixtures, bar the Orlando Pirates v Platinum Stars and Free State Stars v Mpumalanga Black Aces games, have been moved.

The PSL said in a statement, “Following deliberations, the PSL Exco decided that in the interest of promoting the spirit of fair play, as many as possible of the second last Absa Premiership block fixtures will be played simultaneously on May 6 2014. The fixtures will kick off at 19h30.”

“Accordingly, all Absa Premiership fixtures scheduled for this weekend will be postponed with the exception of Orlando Pirates v Platinum Stars and Free State Stars v MP Black Aces.”

Brand De Villiers, the PSL CEO, said, “This matter was placed before the PSL Executive Committee meeting following correspondence from a number of clubs.”

The matches affected are:

Bidvest Wits v Maritzburg United

Mamelodi Sundowns v SuperSport United

Bloemfontein Celtic v Ajax Cape Town

Polokwane City v Moroka Swallows

AmaZulu v Golden Arrows
