Pharrell makes us happy. From that hit song, to his hip hat, to his face that never ages, he manages to make everything cool.

His latest investment is in The Vortex Project, which is a sustainability endeavour to create fashion from recycled plastic bottles.

This is done by using Bionic Yarn – fibres made by taking recycled plastic and even sea debris, and pushing it into a thin filament to create thread. The result is a material that is resilient enough to make jeans and trainers, while still looking good.

Pharrell has teamed up with fashion brands to put his fabric to use in products. He’s making ecofriendly denim with

G-Star for a clothing line called RAW for the Oceans. He has also teamed up with Adidas to make awesome-looking hand-painted sneakers.

“I’m in this company because we can do cool things. When someone tells you something is sustainable, you think it’s going to feel like cardboard. The only way to dispel that is to express the cool,” he says of The Vortex Project.

Basically, Pharrell has made wearing recycled bottles on your feet cool.
