Pimp your lady parts

Most women are too shy for this therapy but, as with Viagra, it will change

Determined to be beautiful outside and in? Why not invest a few thousand rands in some Botox?...?for your vagina?

This noninvasive treatment is relatively new to South Africa and, according to a doctor who specialises in laser and aesthetic treatment, lots of women are still far too shy to even consider it.

You can add a little volume to your labia, enhance your G-spot’s sensitivity and even use dermal fillers – like those usually injected into your face to smooth wrinkles – to plump up your parts. The work is done quickly. Laser treatments take less than 45 minutes.

Because there are no knives and no lengthy recovery periods involved, you can put your pricy investment to the test quickly.

This isn’t just a case of vaginal vanity – Dr Ismail Cassim, who owns the Laser Health Clinic in

Lenasia, southern Joburg – says there are “medical reasons” for many of these procedures.

Cassim said vaginal tightening is necessary for some women, especially those who suffer from urinary incontinence. This condition causes urine to leak involuntarily.

“Using the laser therapy to tighten the vaginal mucosa tissue by stimulating collagen in the region of the vestibule and urethral orifice, as well as in the area along the anterior vaginal wall, we create greater support for the bladder, leading to the return of normal continence,” said Cassim.

More than 200?million people worldwide suffer from urinary incontinence, most of them women.

A number of scientific studies have shown that about half of female sufferers don’t seek treatment because they feel embarrassed.

Cassim said in South Africa “only 30% of women affected by this condition seek treatment”.

“We believe women are too embarrassed to talk about it. Even those who know about the treatment options available, like surgery and taking drugs, do not seek help.”

Cassim believes the taboo will ease with time – as it did with erectile dysfunction and the use of Viagra, which were once subjects discussed only behind closed doors.

But now, according to him, “people talk more openly about it”.

“The same will happen with vaginal tightening if we start educating people about its health – and, of course, pleasure benefits.

“We cannot ignore the fact that vaginal tightening enhances sexual satisfaction in both partners.

“Clinical studies have showed that satisfaction increased by 90% in partners of women who have undergone vaginal tightening due to the increased friction – and women also reported increased sexual gratification,” said Cassim.

As women age, their vaginal muscles start to relax – particularly because of childbirth and the stretching of the birth canal.

“Because the vagina has lost its elasticity, sexual satisfaction decreases not just for women but for their partners,” said Cassim.

But before you rush off to make an appointment, check your bank balance. Vaginal tightening with laser therapy costs about R6?000 per session and some women require at least two sessions.

Cassim doesn’t do dermal fillers but several aesthetic medical clinics around South Africa offer this treatment – at about R2?500 per filler and in just 15?minutes.

You must also be screened for any underlying infections like HIV and, if your pap smear shows you have precancerous cells, you’re not a good candidate for these procedures.
