2014-02-13 11:14

The wheels of an aircraft collapsed during landing at Lanseria Airport outside Joburg, causing the runway to be temporarily closed.

“We had a small aircraft land and the undercarriage collapsed,” airport spokesperson Claudette Vianello said today.

The undercarriage includes the wheels.

Vianello said the wheels had come out on landing, but “collapsed”.

No injuries were reported. Four people were on board the aircraft at the time.

She said the runway was closed for 45 minutes but had been reopened. “We are 100% back on track.”

The incident happened at about 8.30am.

The Civil Aviation Authority would investigate the incident.
