Porn, but it’s ‘classy like jazz ... ’

2011-10-01 20:09

Nyotaimori, the act of eating sushi off a scantily dressed woman as controversially exhibited by show-off businessman Kenny Kunene, stunned the nation and got diehard feminists up in arms.

Now the world of pornography has jumped on the bandwagon with the release of Sushilicious, inspired by the antics of the Joburg businessman popularly known as Mr Sushi.

At this week’s Sexpo at Gallagher Estate, Midrand until today, the buzz word was Sushilicious – and the DVD was flying off the shelves.

The sleeve reads: “With the sushi eating trend in South Africa, we have managed to find something better. Classy like jazz, smooth as caramel, be ready to get wet and pounded by South Africa’s finest.”

Mpho Chauke, director of Lasthrow Entertainment, who produced Sushilicious, said they had Kunene’s full support.

“This is endorsed by Kunene. He said he didn’t have a problem with it because he is all for black empowerment. In fact, we expected his reality TV crew to come shoot here at our stand.”

The DVD, which was shot in March, was released two months ago. Now they are planning a nationwide “meet the stars” roadshow.

“People can’t believe this is happening and that it stars local guys and girls. When they see the proof, they are amazed,” said Chauke.

“In two and a half years the local porn industry has grown. Look at the quality, the colour, the storylines and high definition. It’s all looking good.”

Chauke added that the stars of the movie were amateur actors from Soweto and Rosebank. He said the casting call was sent to modelling and acting agencies and the response was overwhelming.

He is confident the movie will be a runaway hit.

“The storyline takes what Kunene did further. It gives the viewers what they didn’t see. After eating sushi off a woman you must have her for dessert.”

But when called on Friday night Kunene, who admitted to having met Chauke and seen Sushilicious, distanced himself from it.

“They got it wrong. I didn’t endorse the product like that. I support any business venture by black guys, porn is business and it’s growing.

“I gave them business tips and give support form a mentorship and business point of view. The porn market is international and white, and these guys created an opportunity for themselves. I support their business fully,” he said.

“I don’t want to affect their sales negatively, but the product and the content are not what I represent and stand for, I can’t support that. I won’t endorse it. If you bring me class and elegance, then maybe I will endorse it, but I think they have a brilliant business idea and a good business model.”

Chauke said they were already producing the next film.

“We have another DVD coming out on December 1. We have the script and we just want to align it to our local audience. All I can say is it’s multiracial and proudly South African.”
