Prime Circle’s hole-in-one

2012-11-13 10:56

The band from Witbank who brought us some of the finest ballads and white-hot rock since forming back in 2003 have spent the better part of 2012 upping their game yet again with their fifth studio album, Evidence.

With heavyweight production and phonetically loaded lyrics, Evidence is sure to unseat a few and totally blow away the rest of us.

‘This one’s not as commercial as our last,’ lead singer Ross Learmonth says.

‘There’s no massive ballad, but what it may lack in that space, it more than makes up for in every track’s ability to impress live.’

Between the stresses and strains of his rock ’n’ roll lifestyle, the fairway is where Ross arguable does his best work, outside of his multi-award winning band.

‘I’m a straight shooter,’ he insists.

‘I love golf, because I love to walk. You’ll usually find me playing at mashie courses, because you don’t have to wear an outfit. They allow you to wear what you like, and there aren’t that many rules. I try to play at least a couple of times a month, when I have the time.’

Prime Circle (Ross, Dirk Bisschoff, Marco Gomes, Neil Breytenbach and Dale Schnettler) can’t wait to play their new single, ‘Time Kills Us All’, live to gauge just how well it translates.

And with 19 shows already confirmed over the festive season, and more to be added, heading out to knock some balls around the golf course has been put on the back-burner for a while.

Prime Circle are tightly woven in modern rock’s liberal fabric and Evidence is another piece in their collection that’s sure to travel as well as all four albums before it.

‘Credibility is key,’ Ross says. ‘We have it. We’ve worked hard to attain it, and now we’re aiming for a hole-in-one.’
