Prophet allegedly rapes woman in presence of wife

2013-02-27 11:39

A 47-year-old prophet and his wife have been arrested in connection with the rape of a woman in Zondi, Soweto.

Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela of the Gauteng police said today that the two were arrested yesterday after a woman told the police she had consulted the prophet, and he had told her that she had to have sex with him if she was to be healed.

“The woman refused but the prophet promised to give her muti to help her. He allegedly smeared her with a white powder that made her dizzy.”

Makhubela said the prophet called his wife (48) and ordered her to take the woman to a room and undress her.

He then allegedly raped the woman in the presence of his wife.

“They are in custody and are expected to appear in the Protea Magistrates’ Court tomorrow,” he said.

Makhubela said the prophet’s wife was arrested for allegedly assisting her husband in committing the crime.

In another incident, a 55-year-old man has been arrested for raping his wife in Zola, Soweto.

Makhubela said the man allegedly beat up and raped his wife on February 17, when she returned home from a party.

“The man forcefully undressed her, beat her and raped,” he said.

The woman went to the police and the man was arrested yesterday.

He is also expected to appear in the Protea Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
