Pule Mabe, co-accused out on R10 000 bail until February

2013-11-15 11:44

Former ANC Youth League treasurer Pule Mabe has been released on R10 000 bail.

Mabe and his co-accused, Paseka Letsatsi and Kabedi Ramosa, appeared in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crime Court today.

Advocate Zola Majavu confirmed to City Press that his client, Letsatsi, along with Mabe and Ramosa had handed themselves over to the police this morning after the Hawks brought charges against them.

The trio have since been released on bail and their case has been postponed to February 13 2014 to allow their legal representatives to assess the charges.

They face charges of theft, fraud, and money laundering.

Majavu said: “I can speak on behalf of my client, Letsatsi, who, according to the charge sheet, is alleged to have signed a memorandum which was approved by the CEO of the SA Social Security Agency (Sassa) for certain monies to be paid to unauthorised third parties.”

Letsatsi is the agency’s spokesperson.

Majavu said the only bail condition was that the accused be present in court in February.

@JacaNews tweeted that the ANC had noted the arrest and said it would issue a statement once it had received a full report on the matter.
