Qashqai more flexible with added face-lift

2010-06-07 16:53

The Japanese Qashqai might not have been the prettiest sports

utility vehicle when it came out in 2007, but it has managed to move 500 000

units globally, with 5 500 of those being sold locally.

The new slightly face-lifted line-up includes a new automatic model

with continuous variable transmission (CVT) as well as the seven-seater

Qashqai+2 model.

The 10-spoke, 18-inch alloy wheels makes it edgier and the

automatic gearboxes deliver a much smoother drive.

Five- and six-speed manual gearboxes are mated to the cars.

Power figures start at 81kW to 110kW of power and 154Nm to 320Nm of

torque.

Styling changes sees sharper design lines and a more aggressive

front end with a new honeycomb mesh grille, bonnet, front bumper and

headlamps.

This fresh new look is carried through to the back of the car with

a more technical rear-light cluster featuring 12 LED lights.

It features a stop-tail function, chrome graphics and finishes, and

a new aerodynamic spoiler.

Loads of new storage compartments have been added and there is even

a handy slot for parking tickets above the driver’s side door.

The result is a more spacious and flexible car.

Prices ranges from R248 500 to R333 000.
