If the much sought-after SA Music Awards goodie bag is anything to go by, the organisers seem to be on track despite the withdrawal of MTN as a sponsor.

The celebrity goodie bags handed out to onstage presenters and performers on the night have collectively shot up to R3 million worth of treats, from last year’s R2.5 million.

The lucky recipients will bag jewellery, beauty accessories, energy supplements and even ice cream.

The premier music awards ceremony, now in its 20th year, will be held at the Sun City Superbowl on Monday night and is set to attract the crème de la crème of South Africa’s music, TV and radio talent, as well as high society.

Performers include Mafikizolo, Naima Kay, DJ Kent, Uhuru and iFani. Presenters include Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Selaelo Selota, Lulo Cafe, Vusi Nova and Khan Morbee.

» Tickets are still available at Computicket at R355 for the public gallery and R435 for the golden circle. VIP passes go for R620. The awards ceremony will be broadcast live on SABC1 from 8.30pm on Monday.
