Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir has become ill and is being held in a prison hospital wing, his attorney Piet du Plessis has said.

“I am visiting him later, I don’t know exactly what happened,” Du Plessis said.

Krejcir became ill on Monday, but today was the earliest opportunity Du Plessis had of visiting his client.

The Star reported that Krejcir had suffered a suspected heart attack.

In a case before the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court, Krejcir is accused, with seven others, of conspiring to kill police Colonel Nkosana “Killer” Ximba and forensic investigator Paul O’Sullivan.

Krejcir, Siboniso Miya, Owen Serero, Zodumo Biyela, ex-crime intelligence officer, Sergeant Nandi Nkosi, Welcome Nkanyiso Mafunda, Siphiwe Memela and Mike Grigorov appeared in the court on Friday.

In another case Krejcir, with Desai Luphondo, Warrant Officers Samuel “Saddam” Maropeng, George Nthoroane, Jan Lefu Mofokeng and Siboniso Miya face charges of kidnapping, attempted murder and dealing in drugs.

They allegedly kidnapped Bheki Lukhele from his Katlehong home in June last year.

This matter is expected to resume in the high court in Johannesburg, sitting in Palm Ridge, on July 21.
