Rapitso murder accused in court

2009-11-24 13:42

A calm looking Patrick Malgas (45), the alleged killer of Shadi

Rapitso, former etv and City Press journalist, appeared briefly in the

Johannesburg Regional Court on Monday to apply for bail.

His lawyer however failed to appear, prompting Magistrate Paul du

Plessis to say: “When your attorney feels like making an appearance, tell him to

come and see me”.

Du Plessis postponed the case to December 14 for further

investigation.

However, Malgas’s attorney arrived at court and said there was a

misunderstanding with the prosecutor whom he had requested to call the case a

little bit later because the advocate who was instructed to represent Malgas was

in the High Court and would only be available after 12pm.

Malgas is facing a

charge of murder for allegedly stabbing Rapitso to death after she spurned his

advances.

Malgas will remain in custody until his bail hearing.
