Recipe – Deliciously decadent chocolate torte

Cook Cleta Joannou has released a book in tribute of the sweet tooth. It’s called Condensed Milk?– everyone’s guilty secret.

It offers more than 100 recipes that contain a twist of this sugary substance. From sumptuous ice creams to wholesome rusks, all her recipes are easy to prepare.

Our favourite is this supersimple chocolate torte made with some decadent but easy-to-find ingredients.


.?250ml milk

.?2 packets (200g each) Boudoir biscuits

.?2 tins condensed milk

.?400g dark chocolate, chopped

.?1 jar (350g) Nutella

.?500ml fresh cream, whipped

.?Chocolate curls for decorating


1.?Grease a 23cm loose-bottomed cake tin.

2.?Pour the milk into a shallow dish and dip half the biscuits, one by one, into the milk, then use them to line the bottom of the cake tin in a single layer.

3.?Bring the condensed milk to a boil over a low heat. Simmer, stirring continuously, for six minutes.

4.?Remove from heat and add chocolate.

5.?Stir until it melts and combines, then add Nutella.

6.?Pour half the chocolate mixture over the biscuits.

7.?Dip the remaining biscuits in the milk and arrange another layer of biscuits on top of the chocolate mixture.

8.?Pour over the remaining chocolate mixture and refrigerate until set.

9.?Just before serving, cover generously with the whipped cream and decorate with chocolate curls.
