Reiger Park toddler murder back in court

2014-12-17 07:31

The man accused of killing three-year-old Cuburne van Wyk, from Reiger Park, Ekurhuleni, is expected back in the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court today.

On December 10, Nathaniel Katlego Mpoku’s case was postponed as the court awaited a decision by the director of public prosecutions on whether to proceed with his prosecution.

At the time, Van Wyk’s grandmother Daphne Fredericks said they were suffering as the case dragged on.

Mpoku was arrested in August, days after Van Wyk’s body was found. The boy disappeared on August 6 while playing outside with his siblings.

A passer-by found his body at a mine dump in Reiger Park three days later. Police said he died from multiple head injuries and burn wounds.

Mpoku abandoned his bail bid.
