Rocking YFM DJs launch ‘tasteful’ condom range

2009-10-03 13:31

TWO YFM DJs have discovered a rocking way to promote safe sex.

The enterprising MacGyver “Mac?G” Mukwevho (21) and Moeti “Mo Flava” Tsiki (25) have launched a range of flavoured condoms called Rock Da Girls.

“The aim of the Rock Da Girls condoms is to enhance the sense of responsibility in our nightlife culture and lifestyle, promoting safe sex practice among the youth,” says Tsiki.

The condoms are yet to be distributed to retail outlets, but for now they are available at the events the two host.

Mukwevho said: “The condoms are a novel idea and the response has been phenomenal, especially among young women. I’m mostly approached by girls asking for the condoms.”

He added: “As DJs we go to parties and we see people having a good time and getting drunk. They then go home to have sex. So we want our fellow partygoers to party hard and also be protected when they get home.”

In his sales pitch, Mukwevho points out that the condoms are not only flavoured but “ultra thin” with an “urban packaging” – and “of course one size fits all”.

The Rock Da Girls condom creators rate the chocolate and grape-flavoured ones as their personal favourites.

The duo co-founded the Rock Da Girls concept in 2008 and it has morphed from a form of lingo – referring to interactions with women – into a comprehensive lifestyle concept

The sexual undertone of the phrase has been the major drawing card for the brand, which has hosted bashes in Joburg and Pretoria that collectively attracted more than 3 000 revellers.

On top of the condom venture, the DJs will drop their long-awaited Rock Da Girls album this month.
