SABC managers score low on strategic thinking, problem solving skills

2014-02-05 08:29

A skills audit by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has found that executives and senior managers at the SABC do not have the required strategic thinking skills.

The (PwC) report, which was presented to Parliament’s communication oversight committee yesterday, also found that 56% of the broadcaster’s management were unable to demonstrate adequate problem solving levels and make critical decisions, The Star reported today.

The report stated that the SABC also lacked digital migration skills.

Despite this, SABC board member Bongani Khumalo told Parliament the board was fully functional and senior managers were men and women of high integrity who were “effectively supervised,” the newspaper reported.

In a statement, DA MP Marian Shinn called on Communications Minister Yunus Carrim to take drastic steps to address the failures at the SABC and to consider implementing a management rescue plan.
