Santos and Maritzburg United out to redeem themselves

2011-10-21 13:11

This evening’s clash of coastal sides Santos and Maritzburg United is more of a battle for a place in the quarterfinals of the Telkom Knockout than the clubs’ proximity.

The two go into this evening’s last 16 match on the backdrop of heavy defeats last weekend.

Santos were at the receiving end of a 4-1 defeat by Platinum Stars while United were walloped 7-0 by SuperSport United.

Both teams will be out to redeem themselves and give their supporters something to smile about at Athlone Stadium at 8pm.

Tomorrow will see Bidvest Wits taking on a resurgent AmaZulu at Bidvest Stadium at 3pm.

Wits were the last team to inflict pain on Usuthu three weeks ago, but the Durban side has since rediscovered their form having gone two games without a defeat.

Orlando Pirates welcome struggling Black Leopards at Orlando Stadium while Moroka Swallows host Mamelodi Sundowns at Dobsonville.

There are only two games billed for Sunday with Platinum Stars hosting Kaizer Chiefs at Royal Bafokeng Stadium while Ajax Cape Town welcome Free State Stars at Athlone Stadium.
