Scene City: Wining and dining at Soweto’s wine festival

2012-09-15 12:55

Give yourself a swift kick in the butt if you missed out on this year’s TOPS Soweto Wine Festival, in association with Food Network.

Every year the event gets bigger and bigger, with good reason.

On the last day of the festival, DStv treated VIP guests to delectable food courtesy of celebrity chef Jenny Morris.

Mix that up with Mzansi’s finest wine, gorgeous-looking people and live mellow sounds and you had the perfect combination.

New-kid-on-the-block Moneoa, who was serenading the guests upstairs while the masses milled about sampling the more than 900 wines on offer downstairs, is super-talented and showed it throughout her hour-long performance with a live band.

Oh! And it doesn’t hurt that she’s easy on the eye.

One person who couldn’t even blink in case he missed the singer was Scandal’s Peter Sepuma.

He was rolling with young someone Simphiwe Masuku, in a green “freakum” dress to match his inappropriate hat.

The MC was actor Aubrey Poo, who provided the eye-candy, while Baby Cele made a brief appearance before going off to the exhibition stalls to taste the wine, where Kaya FM’s Bob Mabena was also keeping the crowd entertained with music and fun competitions.
