Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba has fallen victim to car jammers, who managed to get away with cellphones and a laptop from his vehicle.

The Times reported today that the coach’s car was jammed by thieves outside a fast-food outlet in Auckland Park.

Mashaba was headed to an interview with Metro FM’s Robert Marawa. He said on the show that he had stepped out of his car for a “few minutes” only to find it had been broken into. The culprits got away with two cellphones and a laptop.

“A number of personal items were stolen, among them my two cellphones and a laptop,” said the Bafana coach.

Remote control jamming has become popular in the past few years. Thieves use a standard gate or garage remote control to jam the signal sent by a car remote control, effectively preventing door locks from engaging.

Mashaba has opened a case of theft.

In recent weeks, an SABC crew was mugged on live television while reporting from outside Milpark hospital. Four people have since been arrested for the incident.
