The SA Football Association (Safa) says Bafana Bafana coach Gordon Igesund’s fate will only be decided tomorrow, but it has now emerged there is already a short list of replacements.

Safa president Danny Jordaan confirmed the existence of the short list at a media briefing following the body’s national executive committee (NEC) meeting yesterday.

Jordaan said Igesund’s future was not on the agenda because the Bafana coach was absent.

At the time of the gathering at Safa House yesterday, the beleaguered coach was on his way back to the country after guiding Bafana to draws against Australia (1-1) and New Zealand (0-0) during their tour of Australasia last week.

He will meet a committee established to discuss his future tomorrow.

“The committee comprises a legal person, a financial person and a technical committee chairperson because it is about a financial package and legal matters which might arise.”

But an NEC member who was present at yesterday’s meeting said the decision had already been taken not to renew Igesund’s contract.
