Being the ‘other woman’ has become the norm in South Africa. Local research suggests that many South Africans see nothing wrong with being the “spare wheel” in a relationship. In fact, a study conducted by the Soul City Institute for Health and Development Communication in 2008 found that women were more tolerant of the practice than men. City Press will tomorrow go in detail about this rising phenomenon as we profile four categories of the side chick and the reasons for their choices.
