Slain mom’s husband gives ‘valuable’ information

2011-11-10 07:33

Police said they have made progress in the case of the Pretoria mom who was gunned down by men on a motorcycle shortly after dropping off her son at nursery school.

But it has emerged that the handbag belonging to Chanelle Henning (26) is missing and an appeal has been made for it to be handed over to police or family, reported the TimesLive.

A woman with black hair is thought to have taken the handbag from Henning’s car after the shooting.

She was one of the bystanders who had tried to help Henning after the shooting. A family spokesperson said the bag contained important documents.

Police did take Henning’s cellpone as part of the investigation into her murder.

They do not feel that the bag is important to their investigations but said it must be important to the family.

Henning’s four-year-old son was placed in foster care following the death of his mother. The boy was apparently devastated when he was told yesterday he would never see her again.

Henning’s estranged husband, Nico Henning, was not a suspect at this stage, said police.

He had been questioned and apparently gave “valuable information”.
