Survivor fans are in for a treat when soccer star Jimmy Tau flexes some muscle in today’s episode, which will feature machetes and a “magic boot”.

Tau steams up screens in the latest instalment of the hit reality TV show.

In this series, sporting heroes Mark Fish and Corné Krige lead “tribes” pitted against one another on a tropical island off the Malaysian coast.

In today’s episode, the teams led by soccer great Fish and former Springbok captain, Krige, duel to win Tau’s skills for a special challenge on the humid, creepy-crawly infested island in the South China Sea.

Filming for Survivor SA: Champions was done in October last year.

Tau told City Press it had been his first time in Malaysia.

“What a beautiful island, it was extremely hot and very humid,” he said.

The 33-year-old former Bafana Bafana right back from Kimberley in the Northern Cape last stepped out for Kaizer Chiefs in the Premier Soccer League.

He retired from soccer in July last year and now lives on Joburg’s West Rand where he keeps in shape training at the S.W.E.A.T. 1000 gym in Morningside.

The hunky sportsman said of his foray in front of the reality TV cameras: “It was an opportunity for me to learn about another culture and just to be part of a big adventure.”

M-Net spokesperson Lani Lombard said: “We were delighted when a legend like Jimmy agreed to fly all the way to the South China Sea to join the Survivors for a challenge.”
