New faces of Oude Meester are unveiled, with Elba and Radebe now taking over the reins

The Big Reveal! Long Walk To Freedom actor Idris Elba and the SA Film and Television Awards-winning actor and stand-up comedian Siyabonga Radebe were this week unveiled as the new faces of the Oude Meester brand.

This was at a function attended by the lovers of things and a string of celebrities at the Wanderers Building in Bryanston.

The event, dubbed Mastery in the Making, sees the reign of Jamie Foxx coming to an end as these two masters take over the reins.

In the commercial shot in Cape Town over five days, Radebe plays Elba’s understudy as the young master in the making. Radebe quipped: “The love I received from Capetonians was amazing. I had the greatest of times with Idris who truly embodies the spirit of a master”.

The evening started off slowly, with celebrities and guests streaming in and hovering aimlessly around the venue until Oude Meester brand manager Genius Mnywabe kicked things off just before 9pm.

Those who were in it to party had to wait over an hour before they could get their way.

In the meantime small talk and a drink of choice was the best company, with snacks of potato pie – hardly appetising!

But there was ample time to chat with the likes of funnyman David Kau and his entourage of socialite Khanyi Mbau and the pennywhistling Lerole brothers.

It turns out that Taxi Ride creator Kau is working on another short film called Room Divider.

Only Kau names a film Room Divider and gets Mzansi Magic to buy it.

I was not sure if he was joking until he introduced me to some of the actors who are appearing in the upcoming film.

Former Boom Shaka member Thembi Seete said though she is not much of a boozer she loves the brand and how it’s been packaged.

Mzansi Insider TV presenter Tsholofelo Maseko, who has been mistaken for singer Lira, regaled us with her wacky Lira stories.

She said she would love to meet the singer she has been mistaken for so many times.

Though it took long to get under way, it was a well attended event. Cheers to the masters in the making!
