Pearl Thusi is officially a hoarder. She is taking everything on offer in this small entertainment industry where deals and endorsements are in short supply.

On Tuesday afternoon she was unveiled as the new face of Tropika Island of Treasure, adding yet another proverbial feather to her already crowded cap.

You’d remember that she has been dominating our screens with her beautiful face, wild hair and infectious smile as a co-presenter of RGB and Live AMP on SABC1, acting on Isidingo and Zone 14, co-host on Metro FM’s Saturday morning show and face of Samsung.

At this rate it’s not surprising that hashtag haters is trending in her life. But it’s her season.

Let it be known that aside from her stunning looks, Thusi is a real sweetheart who is sociable. She rightfully pointed out that this is her God-given talent and she is not going to sit on it.

Thusi will host the sixth season of the reality competition featuring contestants competing on an island for a R1 million. She was a contestant in the show last year. It will air only next May.

Her new gig was announced at the Hamilton Hotel in Craighall Park, Joburg. The boutique establishment was turned into an imaginary beach.

Emceed by Sizwe Dhlomo, there was a frenzy when guests were offered keys to unlock two treasure chests containing a holiday to Mauritius for two and a R5 000 Sandton City shopping voucher as prizes.

A well-groomed Lorna Maseko attended, as well as her colleague Simba Mhere. The Kwela Tebza brothers made a grand entrance with their first lady Khanyi Mbau in tow.

The youthful-looking Andile Ncube also stopped by. It was refreshing to see former rugby star-turned-TV commentator Gcobani Bobo taking time out to feature in the social scene. Tamerin Jardine, Miss Earth 2012, made her debut without a sash having crowned a successor just last week. Other jet-setters, such as Maps Maponyane, Noluthando Meje and Lunga Shabalala, rubbed shoulders. Luthando Sosha, the tall Live AMP co-presenter, looking ready for a round of tennis in her skirt and sneakers, was there to support Thusi, her colleague.
