Celebrities brave the chill to celebrate evening with social doyenne

Celebs came out in droves on a chilly Tuesday night to party with Yvette Mason, one of the social doyennes of Joburg.

The effervescent redhead – with her business partner Never Ndlovu – hosted an intimate bash at her trendy Dunkeld offices to celebrate 10 years in business as the PR and eventing Mason Company.

Mason looked demure in a sheer black silk Kluk dress with bow details. “It’s been tough, but we made it. We had to be innovative,” she said as we celebrated her decade-long operation.

Top-notch entertainment came in the form of Selaelo Selota, who shared the spotlight with his protégés, Samke Sikhosana and Edith Mudau.

The latter has just returned from a stint as a lead singer in The Lion King in Hong Kong. Selota later roped in Malik for a collaboration.

With the dress code “dare to dazzle”, Thula Sindi proved to be a favourite with the women.

MC Azania Mosaka sparkled in a black dress with gold detail.

The statuesque Mosaka is eagerly waiting in the wings for her debut at PowerFM, Mzansi’s newest station, which will be on air soon.

Penny Lebyane, in a dazzling sequined dress complete with a turban, nailed the look. Never one to avoid controversy, she announced: “I’ve got a script.

I will keep to it in case I get bumped off stage.” She referred to her SA Music Awards drama, where she was unceremoniously removed from the presenters’ list after she changed the script.

Former Latin-American champ and Strictly Come Dancing judge Salome Sechele hasn’t lost her spunk even with the sleepless nights that come with raising a six-month-old little girl.

Jeff Madibeng was rolling solo as his wife, Joan Ramagoshi, a social cohesion ambassador for the department of arts and culture, is in Paris attending the launch of South Africa/France Season.

The setup, around a swimming pool, may have been a gamble, but the high spirits of the guests, the music from DJ Kenny Nkwashu and the ever-flowing bar made this a good night out.
