Both teams finished the match with 10 men as Prince Nxumalo of SuperSport and Chris Komane of Chippa were shown red cards by referee Victor Gomes.

The players were given their marching orders in the 65th minute after a dangerous stud-up collision.

SuperSport’s Thato Mokeke and Chippa’s Thamsanqa Sangweni were always going to be key role players in the match in Atteridgeville.

Chippa went into the match hoping for the double after winning their first match 2-0 against Platinum Stars since their return to the Premiership at the end of last season, while SuperSport were still licking their wounds after last week’s opening 1-0 loss against Wits.

In last night's other match, Bidvest Wits salvaged a point against the University of Pretoria in their 1-1 draw.
