The marriage is over between tycoon Lebohang “Lebo M” Morake, who produced the hit musical The Lion King, and his wife, Angela.

Morake allegedly booted Angela out of their matrimonial home in Joburg about three weeks ago. She confirmed to City Press yesterday that they had separated.

“I can confirm that we have separated and that’s how far I can comment as I have two minor kids to protect,” she said.

“They are at school and I don’t want them reading about this in the papers.”

One of her relatives, who asked not to be named, said Morake had already instituted divorce proceedings.

The Morakes were married in a lavish ceremony in 2008. Relatives said the couple’s families would meet in Joburg today in a desperate bid to save their marriage.

“Lebo M has been speaking to one of my relatives in a bid to resolve this matter. I hope they resolve this for the sake of the kids. But if it is true that Nandi is in the picture, it might be difficult,” said the relative.

He was referring to rumours that Morake had been trying to reconcile with his ex-wife, Nandi. “Angela heard he was trying to reconcile with Nandi and that’s what triggered the fight,” said the family member.

“After all they have gone through, this is how he thanks our girl. She must just move on with her life and forget about his money.”

Nandi and Morake divorced acrimoniously several years ago and she moved to the US. In 2009 she claimed that her ex-husband was behind an incident in which she was almost forced off the road. Morake dismissed this as untrue.

Morake couldn’t be reached for comment yesterday. His cellphone was answered by a woman who introduced herself as his personal assistant. She promised to have him call back, but he did not.

She then referred City Press to Morake’s spokesperson, Neo Mohlala, whose phone rang unanswered.
