Still stonewalled after five months

2010-02-13 12:30

PERTUNIA Mangwane is literally being sent from pillar to post by a

seemingly non-existent brick making company she paid R25 000 to deliver bricks

to her.

Speaking to Hotline, Mangwane, of Tshwane, said Impresa Marketing

and Bricks vanished with her money about five months ago. And after a long and

hard journey trying to recoup her money, she finally decided to engage the

services of Hotline.

In August, she ordered a large quantity of bricks from a supposedly

tried-and-tested brick company situated at Juegd Street in Montana, northeast of

Pretoria.

“I’ve got reason to believe that I am a victim of a scam. The

company no longer exists but the salespeople are still there. They operate

under a different name,” she said.

By the look of things the problem began when Mangwane was advised

by a builder she had employed to make renovations to her house. The builder had

asked for the exchange of the already ordered (but not delivered) bricks.

Mangwane notified Impresa, which in turn agreed to the change. But that did not

happen.

After numerous attempts to get an explanation from Impresa about

the delay in the delivery of goods, the company finally admitted that the

desired supply was not available. They offered to pay a refund but that also

failed to transpire.

“I spoke to my salesperson Kirsten (of Impresa), who referred me to

Anita Boschoff. Boschoff promised to release the refund but that did not happen.

I am fighting a losing battle,” said Mangwane. “Their telephones are out of

order but both Kirsten and Anita still work on the same premises. They say they

work for a different company.”

Hotline has since sent an enquiry about the matter to Impresa via

an email. But no response was received. Immediately after the enquiry, Hotline

searched for the company and thus far the company seems to be

non-existent.

Hotline is still investigating in a bid to help the confused

Mangwane.
