Super rugby tickets sold out

2010-05-25 09:40

Tickets to the Super 14 final at Orlando Stadium in Soweto on

Saturday afternoon sold out within minutes this morning.

A Sapa reporter at Computicket in Cresta shopping centre, north of

Johannesburg, who was 10th in line, was told that tickets were sold out by

9.06am.

Many who had been queuing since early morning left disappointed,

including a builder who had been waiting with his workers to buy tickets for the

historical event on Saturday.

An official at the Computicket call centre confirmed that

everything had been sold out.

“We don’t have any tickets any more,” the official said at about

9.30am.

Computicket offices opened at 9am countrywide to give the public

access to 3 200 tickets for the coveted event between the Vodacom Bulls and the

Stormers.

Several rugby fans tweeted about their frustration.

“In queue for Super 14 finals tickets. Painfully slow, already

rumours that its sold out! Just not fair. Fcuk!! (sic),” complained one fan

named frankie2x on the website twitter.com

Beeld newspaper reported that Orlando stadium, where the Super 14

semifinal between the Bulls and the Crusaders of New Zealand was hosted last

Saturday, could only accommodate 36 500 people.

Of these, 3 200 tickets went to the public, 14 000 to seasonal

ticket holders, 10 000 to box holders, 1 000 to the Stormers’ rugby union, 3 000

to the Blue Bulls rugby union and 5 300 to rugby officials including team

management, referees, sponsors, suppliers and SA Rugby.
